How do I pair my phone with BRIX on my computer?
In BRIX on your Mac, open Preferences → Phone → Pair a phone. On your iPhone, open the BRIX app, tap pair and scan the QR code shown on the computer screen. That’s it: the app shows your Areas and your agents.
The phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the computer. The first time, iOS asks for permission to access the local network — accept it, that is how the app finds your Mac.
How do I reach BRIX from another network (on the street, on cellular)?
Access from another network is a feature of the BRIX subscription. With an active subscription and the desktop signed in, the app talks to your computer even away from your home Wi-Fi, through a relay that only forwards end-to-end encrypted data. The computer must be on, with BRIX open.
The app won’t connect. What should I do?
Check, in this order:
- Is BRIX open on the computer, and is the computer awake?
- Are the phone and the computer on the same Wi-Fi network? (Guest networks and some corporate networks block device-to-device traffic.)
- Does the iPhone have local network permission for BRIX? Settings → BRIX → Local Network.
- Away from home: is the subscription active and the desktop signed in?
- If nothing works, forget the computer in the app and pair again (see the next question).
How do I remove the pairing?
In the app, tap Settings → “Forget this computer”. The pairing keys are erased from the iPhone. To also remove the phone on the computer side, go to Preferences → Phone in BRIX on your Mac. Deleting the app from the iPhone also removes everything it stored.
What are the requirements?
- BRIX desktop 2.0 or newer, on a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).
- An iPhone running the iOS version listed on the app’s App Store page.
- To reach it from another network: an active BRIX subscription.
I don’t have BRIX on a computer. Can I still use the app?
The app is a remote control for the BRIX on your computer, so it needs it to work for real. To take a look, use “See a demo” on the pairing screen: it shows sample data and connects to nothing.
